PAXTON-Before Birth

Grandma Talley, from Llano, Tx, sent us an awesome package filled with baby stuff. Grandma and Papa are so very excited about their first Great-grand baby. Grandma and Aunt Vondean made a couple of quilts, cloth diapers, bibs and sent little shoes for Paxton.
Thank you so much Aunt Vondean, I hope that things are going well for you.
Grandma and Papa, I love you.
October 12, 2005 NICE TO MEET YOU, BRAXTON HICKS
I was at the doctor's office for a normal check up with a heart and contraction monitor hooked up to my belly, I was reading A People's History of the United States when the nurse informed me that I was contracting. Really? I didn't feel much at first so she gave a cup of cold water, sat with me and watched the needle scribble out more contractions; one every two minutes so I was sent to the hospital. Not convinced that this was a true emergency, I went home to drop off the dog and let Drew know that I had to go to the hospital, then I stopped at Del Taco for lunch before heading over to be checked in. I got undressed and started to read more while I was hooked up to monitors again, then I felt it, hard and tight but not much pain, I really was having contractions. A nurse came in with two fingers in the air and asked me, "Have you been checked?" I kept my nose in my book while she checked to see if I was dilated, "Only at 1cm, but thinning." They were concerned how Paxton was going to handle the contractions and he did great. I was reading about woman's rights while every five minutes for two hours that (along with a few other things) which makes me a woman, contracted. After two p.m. they stared to slow down and get farther apart without the help of the shot. I asked the nurse about Braxton Hicks and she said that it was a good possibility that I could be having a heavy yet healthy dose of Braxton Hicks, so I was sent home with instructions to drink lots of water and stay in bed.
It was a long and draining day but I learned how to manually keep track of my contractions and to know when it was appropriate to go to the hospital.

October 20, 2005 MR.SMILEY
Today I went to the doctor's office. The doctor wasn't too happy with me because I had gained 11lbs in the past three weeks hitting a grand total of 163lbs! Although, on a lighter note, I got an ultrasound and while the nurse narrated Paxton would act out; "there's a foot..." -he pushed his foot out against my belly, "there's the heart beat..." -his body jumped. When Paxton's face blurred into view on the ultrasound screen I said, "Hi, sweet baby." He seemed to know that the tech./nurse and I were watching him because he opened his mouth as wide as he could and then moved it into the position of a huge smile with his chunky cheeks bulging up to the darkness that is his eyes. "That was a smile," the tech. couldn't stop laughing as she rewound and replayed that great smile over and over. After she was done and I was leaving she said, "See you next time, Mr. Smiley!"

Today we got a delivery. It was the crib that Drew's dad bought for us! It is so beautiful!
Thank you so much, Dad!

Today we repainted the outside deck and deep cleaned the carpets. We have been getting the house ready for the baby party next Saturday. I'm pooped. Mom and her husband, Jim came up to help and although she means well, my mom was driving me nuts with, "Sit down, you're going to pop that baby out right now." I love you mom, thanx for taking care of me. They had a few beers and the painting seemed to go a lot smoother for them while Drew worked at getting the stains out of the carpets. Iplanted some orange and yellow flowers and some daisies that mom had brought and The house, although it isn't completly finished, looks brand new and awesomely clean! Thank you for all your help Mom and Jim. We couldn't, and probably wouldn't have done it with out you.
Also, Mom took some beautiful pictures of that prego-belly of mine. I am having troubles posting them, but I will keep trying. I love you, Ma.
November 4, 2005 *BLESS YOU!
No, I didn't sneeze, but my mucus plug did came out on Tuesday night and Wednesday. To those how are going, "what the hell is a 'mucus plug'?" It is what forms as a kind of plug in the cervix. I asked the nurse practitioner what it means when that comes out and she said that it could mean that I go into labor between 2 days and 2 weeks. Yikes! She said that it was still possible to go full-term, but that they are counting on a few weeks. As of now Paxton is still in there and is doing great. Next Saturday we find out how much he weighs through an ultrasound. Keep your fingers crossed that he stays put for at least three more weeks.

I can't believe that I didn't take any pictures at the party, although, we had a great turn-out. I had an awesome surprise; a girl that I met in kindergarten and was attached to until the third grade or-so showed up unexpectedly. Jamie Cheek was not the blond little girl I knew, she had grown into a dark brown haired, very tall, excited, model-quality, doctor-to-be.
Annett and Nikko made awesome chicken enchiladas, beans and rice. Mom made margiritas for everyone and Baby girl was such a good dog with all that company. Paxton got Hooked-Up! We got everything we needed...
At the end of the day the only thing that I needed was my Dad. I wish you would call or at least write me a short email. I made a bag for the hospital yesterday and in it I put a call list for Drew, but I didn't know if I should put your number on it-I did of course, but it's not like you will show up and hold your grandbaby and this makes me so sad. I have cried about it many times...
I miss you Daddy and I need you.

November 8, 2005 My Dad
You are Little Wing and the rebel of me. You are my name and birthday on the men's bathroom wall. You are the Coors Light that I could never learn to like. You are the maybe that is no. You are the perfect day to ride. You are the money spent before it's cut. You are the extended birthdays and holidays in the mail. You are the man he lives up to everyday. You are the respect I got driving the Nova. You are the freedom of speech I fully express. You are the first dear spotted after the long wait. You are the unrythmic moves of the Talley Dance. You are the cold Novembers at the ranch. You are the pride in every burp and fart. You are the coolest. You are the dad that I love and need everyday. You are the BEST.
November 12, 2005 FALSE ALARM
I really thought Paxton was on his way last night. We went to Hometown Buffet at about 6pm for Aden's 2nd birthday and the entire time we were there I was having contractions that seemed to get longer and harder. There was a woman sitting near our table and as we got up to leave she says, "I've been watching and I have gone through that twice, she's in labor." We left and I thought for sure that after we got home that it would only be a matter of time before we were on our way to the hospital. I got into the shower and got Drew to rub my back and by 10pm I was passed out. When we got ready to go to sleep I was ready, actually happy when the contractions were getting harder causing me catch my breath. I woke up around 3am with no signs of labor, I was so mad. I waited almost an hour to fall back asleep, hoping for something, anything..nothing. Today only one contraction, so far. I went to have Paxton weighed and he's a little less than 6lbs. (give or take a 1/2lb. for accuracy.) I have cleaned out the car, the bag, pillows and the car seat are in place. Laundry is done and I'm putting the finishing touches on the walls in Paxton's room. Tonight we will go for a walk to hopefully get things going again. I'm ready, Pax. Come on out! Now I'm going to ask you to pray that it happens NOW! :) The next picture to be posted WILL BE Paxton's.
November 15, 2005 ??
Today at the doctor's office at about 2pm, I started having contractions. The machine that was graphing the contractions was counting upto 30 before discending back to zero with each one. I had about 14 in an hour. The nurse said that they were consistant enough but not as big as they should be before I go to the hospital. She said to wait until they feel like they are at a 60 before I go. It is about 8:45pm and they feel like a 30 still, lasting about a minute and coming every three minutes or so. Tomorrow I go back to have my cervix checked, that is unless I'm at the hospital by then. I will keep you posted.

I'm still having small contractions and I think that's good because they haven't gone away, but I'm frustrated that they aren't getting harder as fast as I would like them to. Till next time, keep those contractions coming!
November 17, 2005 CONTENT/CONFUSED
I went to the doctor's office yesterday to have my cervix checked and it was only dilated at 1cm but it was thinning. My doctor is well known for inducing labor with his patience to fit it into his schedual, they say his day is Thursday. So get this, He gave me the due date of December third but he says "If the baby isn't here by December first(which is a Thursday) we will insduce... Next Thursday is Thanksgiving, so if you want to we can do it next Tuesday at 6am." Drew and I were talking about it after the visit and he really wants Paxton here but I really want him here naturally. We were thinking that we would wait to see and if he hasn't come by this weekend that we would go head and do it on Tuseday, that way Drew could take off the rest of the week and it would be a positive date that family could plan on to be there, instead of guessing and waiting. I don't know, I want him here now but I have mixed feelings about inducing. I want to spend as much of the labor as possible at home and I wouldn't be able to do that if I had to be at the hospital to induce. Also, Thanksgiving is two days after that and I would hate to take Pax, a few days old down the hill(about an hour and a half drive) to have Thanksgiving at Drew's Grandparents'. Not to mention, I probably wont feel up to going out of town. I think I'd rather wait and see what happens, if anything I know he will be here at least by the first of December.
I have made Drew a t-shirt for him to wear during labor as a focal point for me and a reminder for him. On the front it has inscriptoins reading, MELLOW. Breathe. She Really Does Love Me. You're the best, Drew. Keep up the good work. Please Don't Hurt Me. My Name Is...Andy Lewis. I'M YOUR DADDY. I Belong To Megan Talley. RUB ME! Thank You For Having My Baby, Meg. Come To Papa. I Don't Have a Clue. PAXTON. Rub Me. Drew's a Daddy, Yee-haw. Mellow, Mellow. it IS all my fault and I love it. And on the back of the shirt it says "If you can read this the kid came out lookin' like SNOOP DOGG!" I had a lot of fun making it.
November 19, 2005 YES, THAT IS MY FINAL ANSWER.
We have decided that Tuesday will be the day. Paxton will be here sometime Tuesday or night. Sunday we will clean the entire house and sleep all day Monday. Then Tuesday, at 6am we will be at the hospital. I love y'all. Pray that it is a fast one. :)
November 22, 2005 CLOSE, BUT NO CIGAR.
Today we went to the hospital at 6am as instructed, but all the beds were full with women in labor so we got sent home with the promise that they would call as soon as there was a bed open. We went out for breakfast and then to Wally World to buy a pocket size checker board and a deck of cards. We hadn't gotten a call so we decided to go home to take a nap. Around noon the phone rang and we got the green light to come in. When we got to the hospital they hooked me up to the monitors and injected a jelly through the cervix (that was still only at 1cm) that would help the cervix thin out and open. We waited and waited. I had the hardest contractions of my pregnency which was the only high light of the day. Our doctor, the one who said that everything was ready to go on Wednesday, came in and check me only to say that we weren't ready..?!?! So I didn't get the Potosin and the other thing that completes the induction, and we got sent home. He said that he wanted us back on Sunday, the 27th at 6am to try again. Whoopy. I don't think we want to do that again, so I think we are going to wait until he either comes on his own or we will induce on the 1st of December. We are hoping that since I got the cervix thinning jelly that it will happen naturally now...hopefully.
